Longtime North Hills Staple, Mura, to Sunset this Fall

Published on Sep 12, 2019 under News & Events

Mura has been a long-time dining staple in North Raleigh — the restaurant first opened in 2005 and has been delighting guests for the last 15 years

Raleigh, NC – Citing a shift in operating goals for their portfolio properties, parent company Eschelon Experiences has announced a September 22, 2019, closure of Mura at North Hills.

Specializing in flavorful Japanese cuisine and one-of-a-kind sushi rolls, the Mura menu has been a longtime favorite for Triangle-area diners thanks to a menu that features a delectable combination of steaks, sushi, and other Japanese fares, as well as an extensive drink menu offering everything from Japanese beers and local craft brews, to Asian-inspired cocktails and sake.

Because of the restaurant’s 15-year successful run, Eschelon founder and CEO G Patel has not ruled out a future location or possible partnership opportunities to extend Mura’s lifespan. “We’ve loved being a mainstay of the original North Hills footprint and Mura has had an incredible run unheard of in the restaurant industry operating successfully for 15 years. To be part of so many great memories – from celebrations to first dates that became marriages – that is something we value above all else. At this point in my career, my interests have matured to the point that I’m focused on other priorities at this time, including having more quality time with my family and potentially exploring other opportunities,” shares Patel. “It’s what makes the most sense for us as a locally-owned, independent hospitality company. However, we know that this is going to be a disappointing departure for leagues of dedicated guests who have consistently joined us on the patio, in our spacious dining rooms, and in our private event spaces at Mura, so as new real estate openings or brand licensing partners present themselves to us we’ll certainly always be open to considering a reprisal of Mura in the future.”

Mura will remain open through much of September, marking Sunday, Sunday 22, 2019, as the official last date of service at 4121-110 Main at North Hills. Through then, Mura looks forward to welcoming back guests for toasting to 15 years of lunch meetings, date nights, patio drinks, and many more memories shared in the space. We invite you to share them with us at or by using the hashtag #MuraCelebrations. Reservations are available on OpenTable at

Employees of Mura at North Hills who will be impacted by the closure will be offered open positions at the parent company’s other restaurants in Raleigh, as well as assistance in locating other local opportunities if desired.
